Jake's Super Birthday Party

Jake opens his eyes and sits straight up in bed. Something feels different today. The morning sunlight streams through the curtains, painting golden stripes across his blanket, and then he remembers — today he turns four! "It's my birthday!" he whispers, and then louder, "IT'S MY BIRTHDAY!" His heart beats like a little drum as he scrambles out of bed. The wooden floor is cool under his bare feet, and he can already smell something wonderful drifting up from the kitchen — something sweet, something warm, something that smells exactly like pancakes with sprinkles on top. Jake races down the stairs, gripping the railing with both hands, taking them one at a time as fast as his legs will carry him. When he reaches the bottom, he freezes. The entire living room is transformed. Colorful balloons float against the ceiling — red, blue, yellow, and green — their curly ribbons dangling like party streamers. A giant banner stretches across the wall, glittering in big letters. And standing right in the middle of it all, with the biggest smiles he has ever seen...
