Hannah and the Snow

Hannah presses her nose against the cold window and gasps. Overnight, the entire neighborhood has transformed into a glittering white kingdom. Snowflakes the size of cotton balls are still tumbling from a silver sky, landing softly on rooftops and fences and mailboxes until everything looks like it's been frosted with thick, sparkly icing. "Wow," she whispers, her breath making a little cloud on the glass. Outside, the street is quiet — too quiet. No one is playing. No one is building anything. Just endless, untouched snow stretching in every direction, waiting. That's when the idea hits her like a snowball to the chest. A snow art festival! She can already picture it — giant snow dragons, ice castles, a snowman orchestra with twig batons and pebble buttons. Her heart pounds with excitement as she yanks on her purple boots and her thickest mittens. She throws open the front door, and the cold air rushes in, tingling her cheeks and filling her lungs with the crisp, clean smell of winter. The snow crunches under her feet as she takes her first step outside. Now she just needs to convince the neighbors. She looks down the street, takes a deep breath, and...
