The night sky flickers with a strange orange glow, and Mason presses his nose against the bedroom window. Something is falling — not a shooting star, not a firework — something big, trailing sparks like a broken chandelier tumbling through the dark. Mason's heart pounds as he pulls on his sneakers and races outside. The air smells like hot metal and rain. At the edge of the old meadow, a crater steams in the moonlight, and inside it sits a spacecraft. It's not like any rocket Mason has ever built with his blocks — this one shimmers with swirling silver panels and glowing blue veins that pulse like a heartbeat. But one entire wing is crumpled, and sparks hiss from a cracked engine. A hatch creaks open. A tall figure steps out, wearing a helmet that reflects a thousand tiny stars. The star-pilot looks down at Mason, and a warm, humming voice fills the air — not through ears, but somehow straight into his chest. "Small builder," the pilot says, kneeling slowly. "I have traveled nine galaxies, but I cannot fix this alone. Will you help me fly home?" Mason's fingers tingle. He looks at the broken wing, then at his own two hands...
