Rosie's Muddy Adventure

Rosie presses her nose against the window and sighs. The raindrops from this morning are gone, and now the sun paints golden stripes across the garden path. Her red wellies stand by the door, waiting. "Come on, wellies," Rosie whispers, pulling them on with a satisfying *pop*. She pushes the back door open, and the fresh smell of wet grass rushes in — green and cool and wonderful. *Splish!* The very first puddle catches her by surprise. Muddy water leaps up around her boots, and Rosie laughs so hard her tummy wobbles. She stamps again — *splash, splash, SPLASH* — sending tiny rainbows flying through the sunlight. Then she spots something. Near the old stone wall, tucked between the leaves, a cluster of bright red berries glistens like little jewels. Rosie crouches down, her fingers hovering close. A ladybug crawls across the nearest berry, its tiny black dots perfectly round. "Hello, little friend," Rosie breathes. And that's when she hears a rustling sound coming from behind the raspberry bushes…
