Harry presses his ear against Mummy's round tummy and holds his breath. There it is — a tiny thump, like a little drum beating just for him. His eyes go wide. "She kicked me!" he whispers, and a grin spreads across his whole face. The morning light spills through the curtains in warm golden stripes, painting the nursery floor where Harry sits surrounded by soft blankets and a stuffed bunny he picked out all by himself. The room smells like fresh paint — pale yellow, because Harry helped Daddy choose the color. "Sunshine yellow," he had said, "so Rosie always feels happy." Harry runs his fingers over the tiny socks lined up on the shelf. They are so small they fit over just two of his fingers. He giggles and wiggles them like little sock puppets. But then a thought creeps in, quiet as a mouse. What if Rosie doesn't like him? What if she cries when he holds her? His tummy does a funny flip. Mummy reaches down and ruffles his hair. "You know what, Harry? You're going to be the most wonderful—"
